Back Again- October 2015

Arriving back in Berlin, October 29th 2015

Stepping out of the sliding doors of Schönefeld Flugahafen, I feel at last, calm again. The little X bus rides us through the outskirts with it’s different shaped houses and bungalows to Rudrow where I jump on the reliable, loveable U- Bahn to Yorkstrasse- A no- nonsense, simple and quick way into the city.

I get out at Yorkstrasse. I make the short walk along the wide pavement to my friends magnificent Schöneberg apartment, breathing in the crisp, German air, delighting in the bright sunshine, looking up at the trees in all their autumnal glory, kicking up the orange leaves on the ground and I cannot help but beam from ear to ear. The familiarity and love for this city is great. I feel as though it welcomes me back with open arms.  Even if it is too short a stay, this place stays with me.
